||Ramani A. Aiyer heads Shasta BioVentures, an R&D and Business Development consultancy in Life Sciences, based in Northern California. He has a PhD in Biochemistry from Harvard, did post-doctoral research at Stanford and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and is an MBA from University of California, Berkeley.
He has over 20 years’ experience in the bio-pharmaceutical industry in USA and India, having worked at companies such as Genentech (California) and Piramal Healthcare (Mumbai).
Dr. Aiyer is a prominent member of the Indian community in the San Francisco Bay area, with an active leadership role in promoting and preserving Indian culture. He is past President of South India Fine Arts, Tamil Manram and Hindu Community & Cultural Center (HCCC). He is also currently on the Board of Directors of HCCC.
Born and brought up in Mumbai before moving to US for higher education and settling there permanently, Dr. Aiyer has diligently maintained his ties to India. He spent six years in top management in the pharma industry in Mumbai, and developed an intimate understanding of the similarities and differences between the Indian diaspora in India and US. Dr. Aiyer’s goal is to bring his experience and understanding of the Indian-American community and leverage their strengths to further the mission of IDF in India and the US.
